Outstanding JUNIORS (seniors may NOT apply) that are interested in Public Policy should consider applying to become a Coolidge Scholar. Coolidge scholars receive a full tuition scholarship that includes all expenses to any 4 year college. More information and the application can be found at: www.coolidgescholars.org and applications must be completed by January 24, 2018.
ETSU invites your high school students to our 1-day leadership conference, LAUNCH: An Initiative to Lead!! This conference will be held on Friday, December 8th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at ETSU.
LAUNCH is a one-day event featuring interactive workshops, motivational speakers, opportunities for self-discovery and a sneak peek into college life and leadership. Participants will have an opportunity to engage with current college student leaders throughout the day, with time set aside for campus tours and a Q&A session about the college experience and leadership tips. Registration is only $20 per person. The registration fee will increase to $30 per person if registration and payment are not received by Friday, November 17th. This registration fee includes lunch, a swag item, and conference materials for the day. Visit www.etsu.edu/lead to register!
SHHS sophomores interested in attending a FREE six week summer 2017 program at either Cornell University or the University of Michigan through the Telluride Association should apply at: tass.tellurideassociation.org immediately! Students selected for this program will explore intellectual interests, critical thinking, public speaking, & community service opportunities. Applications must be turned in no later than November 27. Students with intellectual vitality, interpersonal awareness, & leadership should apply (particularly students from underserved populations).
Applications for the Governor’s School for the Arts can be found at gsfta.com. Completed applications must be turned in to your counselor by Friday, October 27th.
Interested in attending an excellent college? Representatives from Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Pennsylvania, and Stanford will be hosting an informational session on Oct 1st at 7pm at the Knoxville Marriot for any students interested in attending these outstanding universities. For more information and to RSVP, visit exploringcollegeoptions.org as soon as possible. The session is free, but you must register in order to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend as well.
Interested in Military Service Academy?
Any students interested in attending a military academy is advised to attend the 8th annual Military Service Academy Day hosted by Phil Roe. This event will take place on September 16, 2017 at Greeneville High School at 9:30am. Students will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from all military academies and gather valuable information on the admissions process. Any senior that would like to be considered for a Roan Scholarship nomination must submit a resume to their counselor by September 8th. Science Hill will nominate two students for one of ETSU’s highest scholarships. The two SHHS nominees must have their applications completed and submitted by Oct 11th. Applications are now available for any rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors that may be interested in the Youth Leadership program sponsored by the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce. Applications can be found in room 527. Please see your counselor for more information.
All students that plan on participating in college athletics once they graduate should visit the NCAA website for info on academic changes that will be in place once you graduate.
